There are seasons in life when change happens in ways we never expect. And through my own journey, God has used this place—these mountains, this community, this slower way of life—to remind me daily of His goodness.
Roanoke, you have been a place of steady grace. You are the crisp morning air on a quiet walk, the mountains standing tall with quiet reassurance. You are the friendly nods on the Greenway, the familiar faces at the coffee shop, the kind of community where people still hold the door open for one another.
I didn’t know how much I needed a place like this—somewhere to grow, to heal, to appreciate the beauty in small, ordinary moments. There’s something about the way the sun sets behind the Blue Ridge, the peacefulness of a well-worn trail, or the joy of sharing a meal with friends that feels like a gentle reminder from God: Be still. Be present. I am here.
I am grateful—not just for where I live, but for the One who placed me here. Roanoke, thank you for being a place of fresh starts, deep roots, and everyday beauty. Here’s to more slow mornings, more good conversations, and another year of walking in faith, right here at home.
With Gratitude,
Saralyn
